Masked Realities

This project revolves around the concept of vicarious living, facilitated through a unique interaction between participants and a mask bearing my likeness. Each participant was entrusted with the mask and a disposable camera, with the simple instruction to photograph their everyday experiences, allowing me to vicariously immerse myself in their lives.

By relinquishing control and placing myself in the hands of others, I sought to explore themes of identity, connection, and the shared human experience. Through the lens of the disposable camera, participants captured moments both mundane and extraordinary, offering glimpses into their unique perspectives and daily routines.

The mask, bearing my face, serves as a symbolic conduit for this exchange—a physical representation of my presence within the lives of the participants, albeit in a mediated and indirect manner. As the photographs accumulated, a tapestry of diverse experiences emerged, each image a reflection of the individuality and complexity of human existence.
